The Path
For the past year, my meditation path has been mostly solitary. After Ralph De La Rosa died unexpectedly in May 2025, I lost my teacher, my friend, the Sangha, and the course of study I thought would continue for many years.
I recently returned to Colorado for a retreat with Susan Piver, not realizing until I arrived that it was the anniversary week of Ralph’s passing. The project I brought was set aside. Instead, I wrote about grief, teacher-loss, and equanimity: the capacity to stay in relationship with sorrow without being consumed by it and that practice can hold both grief and continuation.
