Muddy Margins of Life
I love to walk and see the wildflowers, especially the ones growing at the muddy margins where the land meets the pond’s edge. Those are my favorites. They remind me that beauty does not wait for perfect conditions. Sometimes what is tender and alive grows right where things are messy, saturated, and unstable. Maybe self-compassion is like that too: not something we cultivate after life dries out and firms up, but something we practice in the mud, in the hardest places, while we are still finding our footing.
